| What this Heil® dealer had to say about Dual Fuel: |

| Most of Carolina Comfort’s dual fuel installations are split-systems, pairing a high-efficiency heat pump with a 90% gas furnace—utilizing a variable-speed model where applicable. We asked Rich about dual fuel system sales: |

- More Cash in your Pocket? “While our gross margins are the same, the profit margins are higher because the material cost is greater. This also creates an opportunity to sell accessories like air cleaners, UV lights and humidifiers. This also increases the bottom line. It’s a win/win for both the homeowner and for us.”
- Happy Customers? “Yes, our customers are happy with the comfort levels provided by our dual fuel systems because we evaluate the family’s lifestyle, the temperatures they enjoy, and set the system up accordingly.”
- Tech Tips? “Learn your customer! You need to ask the right questions to find out what their lifestyle is and what they are expecting. If people’s expectations of the system are different than what they are getting, then that creates a service issue in itself. Find out what’s comfortable for them:
- In some homes, we set the outdoor sensor to change at 32° and in others in the low 40s—depending on what is most conducive to their lifestyle.
- For older customers, we typically set the temperature higher than we do for younger couples.
“After an installation, our service manager does a final inspection. We always have a service tech confirm the start-up and record data. We try to set up and calibrate the system to the customer’s lifestyle.”
